Storage and returns

Storage, three ways

60 days, 90 days, or 180 days, depending which page you read

Checked across four Tomebuy pages on 2026-10-21/22. This site does not pick a winner between them.

Horizontal bars comparing three storage periods: 60 days, 90 days, and 180 days, each sourced from a different Tomebuy page
The homepage, After-Sales Service (id 4) and the Shopping Agent Guide (id 3) all say 60 days; the dedicated Storage policy (id 20) says 90 days; the Order Questions help article (id 1) says 180 days.

Plan around the shortest figure, 60 days, since that is both the most repeated number across Tomebuy's own pages and the most conservative one to budget by. Treat your own order's status page as the final word for that specific parcel; a policy page is a general statement, not a commitment tied to one order number.

A separate rule applies to “abnormal” parcels, meaning an order that was never submitted for a waybill or whose logistics details were never completed after the package was signed for at the warehouse: Tomebuy's Storage page gives that category a flat 60-day window, counted from the “Signed for” status rather than from “in storage”.

The five-day return window

Counted from warehouse stock-in, not from your original order date

From the Returns and Refunds page (id 15), read 2026-10-21; the Return and Refund Service FAQ (id 8) frames the same policy as seven days from receiving the parcel, which lines up once transit time from the warehouse is counted in.

Eligibility

The eligible list, and the excluded one

Eligible

In resalable condition, unused and unaltered, with all original tags, packaging and accessories intact, and inside the five-day window from warehouse stock-in.

Not eligible

Custom-made or personalised items; anything opened or with tags, packaging or accessories removed; intimate apparel; food items such as biscuits or sweets; and anything already used or second-hand.

Who pays for a no-fault return

The round trip, out to the seller and back again, comes out of the buyer's pocket, on top of a flat 0.75 USD service charge, whenever the return has nothing to do with a quality fault.

Who pays for a quality-issue return

Tomebuy's published pages describe the no-fault case in detail but do not spell out a separate cost split for a confirmed quality fault; confirm the specific cost for that case with support before you ship an item back on that basis.

Tomebuy Insurance

Three kinds of cover, with specific exclusions

From the Distribution help article, read 2026-10-21.

  • Delay insurance: pays 20% of the shipping fee if a parcel exceeds its route's quoted 30 or 40 day delivery window, but excludes delays from customs holds or a recipient's own failure to clear customs.
  • Customs-hold insurance: compensation is assessed case by case against the parcel's situation, again excluding holds caused by the recipient not cooperating with local clearance.
  • Loss or damage insurance: compensation is based on actual shipping fee plus the goods' declared value, up to the insured amount, but excludes loss caused by the recipient's own failure to sign for the parcel in time.

Cover is opt-in at the point you submit a shipment, not automatic, and the per-route compensation figures sit behind the shipment submission page rather than being published openly.

Insurance exclusions worth reading before you rely on them

Each of the three covers has its own carve-outs

From the Distribution help article, read 2026-10-21.

  • Delay compensation does not apply to delays caused by events outside Tomebuy's control, named examples include epidemics, severe weather, and conflict in the origin, transit or destination country, nor to delays caused by customs inspection or a recipient not cooperating with clearance.
  • Loss or damage compensation does not apply when the loss or damage traces back to the recipient's own actions, including a parcel returned to an overseas warehouse or destroyed because nobody signed for it in time.
  • Customs-hold compensation does not apply when the hold itself was caused by the recipient not cooperating with local clearance or not paying what was owed.
Buying more time before the storage clock runs out

A paid extension, sold in fixed blocks

Tomebuy's Help Centre prices a storage extension at 20 yuan per 100-day block, requested through an order's remarks field before the free window closes; see the full extras list on the costs page. Buying the extension does not pro-rate, one block always adds 100 days regardless of how many days were left on the free window when you buy it, so it is worth timing the purchase rather than waiting until the deadline is imminent.
